Local couple, Robin Evans (27) and Hannah Hunt (23) have bought their own brand new three-bedroom semi-detached home at Linden Homes’ Catherington Park development in Lovedean, thanks to Linden Homes’ Help to Buy* scheme.
Robin and Hannah were both living with their parents and paying them rent but still were managing to save up a large enough deposit. By using Help to Buy* it meant they were able to leapfrog in to a beautiful three-bedroom home and reach that important milestone of buying their first home together.
Robin explained how they managed to make their dream become a reality: “We really wanted our own home and a future proof one so three bedrooms was important. We had a good deposit which we’d saved thanks to being able to pay less rent to our parents than we would in private rental property. But, even having saved a fairly big deposit, it was using Help to Buy* that meant we could push to a bigger property and ensure that we had the space to grow into for the future.
“Help to Buy is fantastic and we found the whole process very straightforward. Even with a decent deposit, we couldn’t have moved into a three-bedroom home without Help to Buy. Linden Homes were great at answering all our questions and guiding us through the process.”
Hannah added “I’m a singer, although my day job is in finance, so I’ve enjoyed using the third bedroom as a music room, where I can practice - having that extra space was a deciding factor and a real bonus for us. I hope to become a singing teacher so eventually hope to use this third room for lessons.
“We love the finish both inside and out. Its’ great having everything brand new and we’re just really pleased with our gorgeous home which has a fantastic modern look. Plus, the location is ideal for us as it’s close to both our parents and great for both of us to get to work.”
Robin continues “We were looking on and off for about a year although we didn’t actually look at any properties. We were fairly clear in our minds about what we wanted, two to three bedrooms, great layout, space, a garage and garden in a quiet location with nearby shops. This particular development attracted us the most due to the location. The added bonus was the various schemes that Linden Homes offers to help people to buy. We’d seen a show home at another Linden Homes development nearby and were impressed by that so on the strength of that, when Catherington Park became available we were confident enough to buy off plan.
“We can’t speak more highly of Linden Homes and the sales team. The quality of the build is fantastic, the finish is great, I work in the industry supplying Corian kitchen work surfaces, so I have a bit of industry insight.”
Hannah concludes: “We are so happy with our move. The great advantage of the way we did it, combining Help to Buy with buying off plan meant that we got a brand new really energy efficient home but one that we’ve been able to put a few of the finishing touches to ourselves, it’s a much more stress free way of doing it than us having to do all that work, not to mention the added cost.”
