Why move to a new build home in Newport?

In addition to its prime location between Cardiff and Bristol, Newport is one of the fastest-growing cities in Wales, with a rapidly changing centre and an expanding population. Here's a taste of why it's an attractive place to settle down.

Activities

There's something for everyone packed into Newport's city centre, with a great range of history, shopping and entertainment to enjoy.

There's the cathedral, which was founded on its current site in the 5th century. Its tower dates to 1402. The city's history is also displayed at the Newport Museum and Art Gallery. Here, visitors can find out about the Chartist uprising in Newport, along with the stories of those who lived in and around the area over the ages. There are also regularly updated exhibitions in the art gallery.

While in the city centre, browse the stalls at the covered market or grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants and cafés in and around Friars Walk. As well as being a hub for food and drink options, this shopping centre at John Frost Square is home to high street brands, a Cineworld cinema and bowling at Superbowl UK.

Across the river is Rodney Parade, where football fans can watch Newport County FC play. As well as football, the city is great for water sports fans, who can head to Llandegfedd Lake just a 20-minute drive away. Paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking are all on offer here.

Education

Home to 44 primary schools, nine secondary schools and two special schools, it's safe to say that Newport offers a fantastic range of education options for young children. The University of South Wales also has a campus in the city, providing access to undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a range of disciplines.

Travel

Newport's excellent transport links make it easy for you to explore the rest of Wales and England. The M4 passes to the north of Newport, providing easy access to Bristol (45 minutes) to the east and Cardiff (30 minutes) to the southwest. The A48 also runs through the south of Newport connecting to the M4.

Newport (South Wales) train station provides direct connections to cities in England and Wales, including Cardiff in less than 15 minutes, along with routes to Nottingham and Portsmouth. London Paddington can be directly reached in around one hour and 40 minutes. There are also direct connections to Ebbw Vale and Holyhead.

Cardiff Airport is roughly a 45-minute journey from the city along the M4, so you'll also have quick access to flights abroad.
