Exisiting Homeowners Could Be Missing Out On Help To Buy In Fetcham
02 Oct 2017

Did you know that Help to Buy isn’t just for first time buyers? No? Not many people do! In fact, the majority of sales have been to first time buyers (97,578) representing 81 per cent of total sales in the UK since the scheme started in 2013, according to the latest figures from the government.

With many existing homeowners therefore potentially missing out on owning a brand-new home, Linden Homes is raising awareness of the buying assistance scheme to help purchasers understand the benefits. What’s more, if you haven’t sold your current home yet, Linden Homes can also help you sell it by using its Assisted Move scheme, meaning you don’t have to worry about dealing with estate agents as the housebuilder does all the hard work for you, as well as paying the agents fees.

Claire Gibbins, Sales and Marketing Director at Linden Homes South East, explains: “Help to Buy is often perceived as a scheme for first-time buyers, but it is in fact also available to people who already own a home. The criteria is the same, in that it can only be used to purchase a new build home with a value of up to £600,000, but it means so many more people who would like a bigger property but are struggling to gather a deposit, can actually make the move they long for.

“We have a number of homes at River Walk in Fetcham that fall within the Help to Buy threshold. All you need is a five per cent deposit to get a 20 per cent government equity loan to get moving. Linden Homes will support you along the way with the application, plus the sale of your current home too if you wish, with our own Assisted Move scheme.

“We hope that by raising awareness of the Help to Buy scheme with current home owners that more will realise they can move, which in turn may help more first-time buyers to get on the property ladder as a wider variety of property types open up to them.”

River Walk is a collection of just 26 riverside homes offering the very best of town and country living. Set in a green meadow area, the development is sympathetically designed to blend into the surrounding natural environment and is free from passing traffic. Despite its rural location, River Walk is nestled between the charming village of Cobham and the historic market town of Leatherhead. It’s also near several excellent schools and has great links to the M25, A3 and rail services.
