First time buyers are consistently taking advantage of Help to Buy. According to Linden Homes’ regular report on the scheme – detailing how the scheme is being taken up across the UK at their developments, 70% of its customers who used Help to Buy in the last quarter (July – September 2016) were first time buyers.
In the South East region which covers London and Greater London, all of the Help to Buy customers were first time buyers and the average percentage of homes bought using the Government led scheme has increased to 41%.
Linden Homes’ Empire Court in Borehamwood currently has a selection of one and two bedroom apartments, available under the Help to Buy scheme. Every apartment benefits from allocated parking and a balcony, some of which overlook a central green. There is also the final four bedroom house and three bedroom show house available under the scheme.
The Help to Buy equity loan means that the Government will lend up to 20% of the cost of your brand new home, so you only need a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage to make up the rest. There are no fees on the 20% loan for the first five years of owning your home. This scheme applies to new build homes priced up to the value of £600,000.
