After more than a year’s property-hunting, it was Linden Homes’ development of Marley Mead in Dorking where a couple from London finally found the space, peace and value they had been searching for.
Jaysen Arumugum (36) and his wife, Cheryl (33), had set their sights on the Surrey town and its surrounding countryside as the place to where they wanted to relocate from their former home in Carshalton, on the edge of the capital.
But for months they were frustrated by the high prices, lack of space and mean levels of parking – until they visited Marley Mead where their new home, a beautiful three-bedroom, three-storey semi-detached house, ticked the right boxes.
Jaysen works as an actuary and Cheryl is a translator in French, German and Spanish. They are expecting their first child in April and have been happily settled at Marley Mead since moving in in time for Christmas.
The 23 quality three, four and five-bedroom new homes offer an ideal location on the edge of bustling Dorking and are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the beautiful Surrey Hills with their views and footpaths.
Cheryl explained: “We chose this area because it is very peaceful and surrounded by quiet, private roads. It’s really nice and quiet. We knew we wanted to move to Dorking but not many properties came up, especially ones that had parking on your own driveway.
“A lot of properties were also very expensive for what they were and did not have a lot of space. We were definitely looking for space as my husband is from Mauritius and his parents come to stay with us quite regularly and we wanted a house that was big enough for them to feel like they had their own space!
“Here we have a massive lounge/diner and the bedrooms are a really good size. The two bathrooms and a cloakroom were a real bonus for us. There’s another new-build development near here which we looked at as well and although the properties had more bedrooms, they felt very cramped.
“I was actually very against a new-build at the start. But obviously I changed my mind! It’s nice being in a new house because it’s so well insulated and it’s very warm. That’s been great.
“Everyone who’s come to visit has been very impressed with the space and we have had a whole lot of people to stay – and there’s been plenty of room.”
Cheryl added: “Being in the countryside is brilliant. What we were after was being able to go out the front door and go on a walk. We both love walking and bicycling.
“We have had a good experience with Linden Homes. When we were looking my dad’s friend, who is in the building trade, had heard of Linden Homes and knew they had a good reputation. They have been very good to deal with and have sorted out the few problems that have come up.”
Marley Mead’s homes come in a range of varied designs with authentic local materials and diverse detailing. All properties boast generous front and rear gardens, private driveways and a superb specification and finish throughout. Most have solar panels on the roofs too.
Inside, fully-fitted kitchens come as standard alongside top quality fixtures and fittings and high level energy efficiency, as well as fully turfed gardens. A 10-year NHBC guarantee and two-year customer care warranty give peace of mind too.
For those wanting to cut out some of the hassle of selling their property, Linden Homes’ Assisted Move scheme offers practical help to customers who have set their heart on one of the selected properties.
And for those who don’t want to wait, Linden Homes’ Part Exchange scheme offers one quick, hassle-free agreement that takes out estate agents’ fees and the problems with chains which can scupper even the most secure-looking move.
Eligible home-hunters choose from a selected range and within seven days a valuation on their property will be made by three local estate agents and a cash offer made. The only thing left to do then is set a move-in date and get packing.
