Three words the property industry’s been talking about since 2013: Help to Buy*, but did you know…
“We meet a lot of homebuyers that are unclear about the scheme,” said Sue Scholfield, director for Linden Homes. “Help to Buy has helped so many people but there’s still a misconception that it’s just for first time buyers, which is definitely not the case – it’s a fantastic scheme that’s given hundreds of second and third time movers that extra space. If your children are getting fed up with sharing a room or there’s a long queue to the bathroom each morning – indicating it’s time to move – Help to Buy could be the answer.”
Designed to assist existing homeowners and first time buyers, Help to Buy* is a Government backed equity scheme available on any of Linden Homes’ properties under £600,000. It enables homebuyers to purchase a new home with just five per cent deposit and a 20 per cent Government equity loan.
One customer that took advantage of the initiative is Claire, 40, who moved to a beautiful new three bedroom house with her two sons aged 12 and 14 years. Commenting on her experience, Claire explained: “We owned a two bedroom flat and hadn’t considered buying a new home before but my friend kept telling me how amazing her new house was. I couldn’t believe that we could get an extra bedroom and a garage by using the Help to Buy scheme. Our downstairs is lovely and open plan, the garden gets the sun all day and my boys have their own bedrooms, so it’s been a wonderful move for us all.”
