Help To Buy Could Help You Move To Maidenhead's Boyn Hill Gardens
12 Mar 2014

On April 1st, the Government’s Help to Buy scheme will be a year old. Since its launch it has helped around 13,000 people to buy a new home while a further 6,000 others are in the process of buying.

It has been estimated that in the first nine months Help to Buy* created an average of 46 new home owners every day.

The scheme is based on an equity loan from the Government: New home buyers (including first time buyers and home movers) can borrow up to 20% of the property price from the Government without being charged loan fees for the first five years. And crucially the all important deposit can work out as little as 5%. The scheme is eligible for all new build properties up to the value of £600,000.

Help to Buy has been in action to great effect at Linden Homes’ development Boyn Hill Gardens in Maidenhead. The homes have been selling well since they were launched last year and there are now just fourteen properties remaining.

Currently there is just one, 3 bedroom new home and just three, 3 bedroom refurbished homes (which also qualify for the scheme and are, for the purposes of the Help to Buy scheme regarded as ‘new’). These have been built within the elegant Grade II listed Boyn Hill House.

Boyn Hill Gardens also offers some beautiful four bedroom homes – they too are eligible for the Help to Buy scheme.

Linden Homes’ customer Vicky Wiltshire bought her new three bedroom home using Help to Buy and says it was a very straightforward process:

“I had looked into the Help to Buy scheme before we saw the house, to see if it could work for us. I think that it really is an easy scheme to use. And, most importantly, it can make a big difference to the house buying budget. If we had tried to purchase our new home without the scheme, our budget wouldn’t have stretched to what we actually wanted to buy. With the scheme, we were able to look at properties that were in a different bracket.”

Boyn Hill Gardens is built on a peaceful, wide and leafy road which is flanked by mature trees. It is close to the beautiful and historic All Saints Church which is regarded as one of Maidenhead’s most significant and impressive pieces of architecture. These new homes are within easy reach of the town centre with its selection of high street shops and boutiques. There is also a cinema, an arts centre – with its own theatre - and a leisure centre.

Boyn Hill Gardens is in a prime location for commuters: Maidenhead is the starting point in the west for the revolutionary new cross rail system which is currently under construction in and around the City. Once complete Maidenhead will be linked to the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow airport via 41 connections with other rail lines.
