Help To Buy: A Positive Boost For Housebuilder Linden Homes (South West)
21 May 2013

Opportunityfor Stamp Duty to be paid for new home buyers on homes up to the value of £250,000

The UK’s fifth largest housebuilder, Linden Homes, has credited the government’s Help to Buy scheme with a year-on-year rise in enquiries of more than a quarter.

The 27 per cent uplift, compared to February to April 2012, has included a variety of buyers including first-timers and second-steppers, said Linden Homes.

In fact in just the first seven days following the Help to Buy announcement in the Spring Budget, the company received over 1,000 enquiries across the country via its website.

Help to Buy is a Government backed equity scheme that applies to any new build property up to the value of £600,000. It enables buyers to purchase a new home with just 5% deposit and a 20% Government equity loan – a loan that is interest free for the first five years and can be repaid at any time within the first 25 years.

Linden Homes has also announced a further new incentive to get people moving. Adam Champion from the New Homes Group explained: “We can unveil a new deal with Halifax; in addition to the Help to Buy scheme, there is the opportunity for your Stamp Duty to also be paid for you. This deal is available on new homes up to the value of £250,000, completed before the 8th July 2013.”

Nigel Palmer, Managing Director at Linden Homes South West “With Help to Buy and the interest rates as they stand, there has never been a better time to buy a new home. We are now seeing proof of how the scheme can get you moving far sooner than previously possible and we encourage people to take advantage of this unique opportunity whilst there is funding in place.

“Our Sales Executives at our developments including: Royal Barham House in Truro, Coast@Two Coves in Duporth, Liskerrett Vale in Liskeard, The View in Wadebridge, The Tannery in Grampound, Evolve in Devonport, Ogwell Brook in East Ogwell, Abbeyford Rise in Okehampton, Milbury Reach in Exminster and City Glade in Exeter have been tasked with making the scheme simple for our customers to understand and enable them to proceed with confidence. If there are potential buyers out there that are uncertain about Help to Buy, we would encourage them to come and talk it through with our Executives to discover how we can make it work for them.”

To clarify the Help to Buy process Linden Homes has created a new step-by-step animation which gives a simple overview of the scheme. To view the animation, visit: www.lindenhomes.co.uk/helptobuy.
