Neil Bickel, [47], has received a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award for his work on the Whiteley Meadows development, off Botley Road.
The award is part of the NHBC’s annual Pride in the Job competition. Only 5 per cent of UK site managers receive a Quality Award each year, making it one of the most highly prized accolades in the industry.
Neil joined Linden Homes back at the beginning of 2020 after a varied career within the construction industry spanning 22 years.
He said: “I studied a construction management HNC whilst working as a bricklayer to further my career in construction, I am very proud to have recently been promoted to a project manager position on the multi phase site in north Whiteley. During my career, I spent 4 years working for NHBC that put me in a good position to further my career in site management. During this time I gained a wealth of technical knowledge in construction. This experience has given me a great insight into quality workmanship in house building and a standard that I am proud to uphold.”
Neil, who lives in Portsmouth said: “Myself and the team were over the moon when we heard I had won the award. It is not just an award for myself, but it highlights the hard work that the whole team has put into the site over the past year.
“This is my 2nd time winning a Pride in the Job Award and I am thrilled that the dedication has paid off. I couldn’t have done this without the support from Vistry and the team I work with.”
Neil will now go forward along with the other Quality Award winners to be considered for a Seal of Excellence Award.
