Retired Val Smith had lived near Southend with her husband for many years but after he sadly passed away, she was looking to be closer to family, and so made the move from Essex to Countryside Partnerships’ brand new Lyneham Fields development in Wiltshire.
It was Val’s daughter who first spotted that new homes were going to be built in the field opposite her garden in the rural village of Lyneham. Originally from Southampton, Val already knew the Wiltshire area well and had also spent a lot of time visiting her daughter and family in Lyneham over the years. Although initially reluctant to sell her property in Essex and make the big move, Val described the opportunity as “too good to miss”.

In making the move to Wiltshire, Val was able to up size to a 3-bed bungalow, with the proceeds from the sale of her previous home paying for the new bungalow. The new bungalow at Lyneham Fields offered Val everything she was looking for in a property, with the additional bedrooms meaning she will be able to offer friends a place to stay when visiting.
The fact that the property is so close to her family completely sealed the deal for Val, who has been staying with her daughter whilst awaiting completion of the bungalow. This has meant that Val has been able to see the build of the bungalow progress and explore her new neighbourhood, experiencing life in Lyneham ahead of moving into her new home.
Val commented that the sales team at Linden Homes couldn’t have done more to make the buying process as smooth as possible, providing her with regular information, updates, and photos of her new home. She feels well-settled in the area already and is looking forward to making her new house a home.
