Two North Yorkshire site managers have been praised for their commitment to health and safety – in a year where the housing industry has risen to the many challenges of the pandemic.
Site manager Gary Barker and assistant site manager Terry Palmer from the Linden Homes Northfield Meadows development in Seamer clinched a coveted first place in the Best Standard Housing category at the recent Vistry Group Awards virtual ceremony,
Business Units within Vistry Homes, who build throughout the country under the brands Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, were invited to nominate a development to be considered for the SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) award.
The judging team carried out an extensive review of the nominated developments, looking at safety statistics and performance, before a visit from the company’s SHE manager to interview the site manager/s.
From detailed assessments, the company then whittled the finalists down to three – with Gary and Terry taking the top spot; rewarded with a trophy, framed certificate and a celebratory bottle of champagne.
Handing over the award, Vistry Homes Yorkshire regional managing director Scott Stothard said: “The past 12 months have not been without their challenges across the new homes industry.
“However, our teams have risen admirable to those challenges, putting the health and safety of our people and customers at the very heart of the job. Gary and Terry have adapted to the changes presented by Covid admirably, in the way the site works on a day to day basis and dealing with external suppliers and other contacts.
I am delighted that they – on behalf of their on-site team – have been recognised for their fantastic effort and achievement.”
