Developer Supports Commercial Partners Through New Homes Travel Plan
24 Mar 2021

Sustainable travel, physical and mental wellbeing and supporting commercial partners are being championed by regional developer Linden Homes in a new residents’ transport plan.

Homeowners moving to company’s North Yorkshire Castle Gate development in Knaresborough are to benefit from a range of incentives designed to encourage them to leave the car at home.

As well as sustainable travel; road safety, improved air quality, a lower carbon footprint and better access to local beauty spots and green open spaces form the basis of a forward-thinking travel plan document, which already has North Yorkshire County Council approval.

All residents moving into the development will receive information on all their sustainable travel options and enjoy discounts and incentives to encourage them to rethink how they travel.

Linden Homes has partnered with Leeds-based transport solutions experts Mosodi to deliver and introduce the tailor-made plan over the next few months; as lockdown eases.

Located close the town centre, Castle Gate will comprise a selection of 300 two, three, four and five-bedroom properties – with homeowners set to take advantage of special offers and incentives to help with different forms of travel and transport use.

Mosodi director Chris Taylor explained: “We are currently working with a number of commercial partners, including British Cycling, iCycle, Up and Running, Northern Rail and Transdev to give the Castle Gate residents genuine alternatives and choices when deciding on their travel needs.

“Everyone moving into the development will receive their residents transport plan in their welcome plan with details on walking and cycling routes and journey times, how to access discounts and also special offers on things like Ebikes, memberships and bus and train tickets.”

And for those who need to travel, commuter friendly Castle Gate is just a mile from Knaresborough station, with links to Leeds and York.

Chris added: “The development is within walking distance of the town centre, so as well as leaving the car at home, residents may also decide to support local retail or other businesses, or simply get on their bikes and explore some of the stunning surroundings close to and around the nearby River Kidd.”

Linden Homes sales director Steve Woomble said: “The aim is to create a safe and sustainable environment and great quality of like for all our residents, not simply the bricks and mortar they move into.”
