An extraordinary new collection of apartments is being created in Chiswick. This lively, sought after and chic slice of west London will soon be home to The Corner Haus – an unusual and extremely contemporary building housing 14 brand new apartments.
This is an unusual development: firstly these apartments are being built by award winning Linden Homes – so will be finished to a very high specification. Secondly, most of the apartments will come with parking – the building has been designed to provide underground car parking – a real boon in the capital.
The Corner Haus is set on Chiswick High Road – in the heart of this busy suburb with its bars, cafes, boutique shops and stores. All the apartments have either two or three bedrooms and most come with a balcony or terrace.
Like all Linden Homes, each of these homes will be built to a very high specification – which is what you would expect from the company named ‘Best Large Housebuilder’ this year at The Housebuilder Awards.
All the kitchens are finished with fully integrated appliances and granite worktops; the bathrooms are luxurious and stylish. Each home is designed to maximize both the living space and the abundant natural light.
The apartments are being launched during the first quarter of 2014 and, as Simon Pendlebury the sales and marketing director of Linden Homes explains, the demand for them is expected to be high:
“We have a data base of around 300 people who we think might be interested in an apartment like this. They will all be notified when The Corner Haus is launched. But there will also be interest from local people too who want to perhaps take advantage of this opportunity to buy a new build home.”
And Simon says that there is a burgeoning interest in new build homes in the UK:
“There are lots of reasons why people choose a new home over a period property: Buying a brand new apartment often means you can move in straight away to a building that is virtually maintenance free. There should be no time consuming, expensive (or even disastrous) DIY projects. Every Linden Home has a ten year NHBC build warranty and two year customer care warranty – both of which come as standard. All our customers appreciate the fact that Linden Homes’ kitchens are already fully fitted with integrated and guaranteed appliances.
“Obviously Chiswick has a lot of terraced Victorian and Edwardian homes – they are very popular and buyers love the high ceilings, sash windows, cornices and old features. But, while an older property might have lots of character – it could also throw up lots of problems, not least the problem of how to efficiently heat it. It is worth saying again that current building regulations mean new homes are six times more energy efficient than existing homes and produce over 60 per cent less CO2 emissions than older properties. Translated into cash, this means homeowners can enjoy savings of more than £500 each year on their energy bills – a significant saving given the skyrocketing cost of utilities.
“It’s also fair to say that the buying process for a new home tends to be much less complicated as there is no forward chain on the purchase. This gives you more certainty, less stress and no risk of a deal falling through from no fault of your own.”
Chiswick is the hub of several major roads linking the capital with the rest of the country: it is located at the start of the north circular road, the south circular road and the M4 (which leads straight to Heathrow and the M25). The Great West Road (A4) goes east from Chiswick into central London. The A316 runs through Chiswick too – leading to the M3.
