Colin and Sam Hunter and their 15-year-old daughter Ellie are the latest residents to move to Linden Homes North’s Thorpe Willoughby development – swapping a rented terrace property for a brand new spacious detached home.
Truck driver Colin (44) and maternity support worker Sam used the popular Help to Buy scheme to enable them to purchase their dream home in the quiet village in the countryside location with friendly local pub!
Colin said: “We were living in rented mid-terrace townhouse which was in desperate need of modernisation.
“We heard the advert for the Willeby Heights development on the local radio and really loved the location. We used the Help to Buy scheme, which gave us the chance to provide the larger deposit required to secure our mortgage.”
The Hunters are now settling into their spacious three-bedroom home, and highlight the stand out features as the quality of the finish and the ‘instant homely’ feel.
The village of Thorpe Willoughby boasts easy access to the A1 and to Sam’s place of work in York and Ellie’s school in Huntington.

Customers require a minimum five per cent deposit. The government will lend you up to 20 per cent of the value of your property through an equity loan, which can be repaid at any time or on the sale of your home. Buyers will only need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage from a bank or building society. The maximum home purchase is £600,000.
