Local Infant School Pupils’ Flashes Of Inspiration Feature In Linden Homes Calendar

The talented budding photographers of Kempshott Infants School in Basingstoke have been busy snapping their favourite local nature scenes for a 2020 Countryside Calendar. The images were collated into a calendar which was produced by award winning housebuilder Linden Homes. The finished copies were sold to parents, grandparents and friends at the school’s Christmas Fair with the proceeds going back to the school to boost their funds.

The idea for the calendar activity came from Linden Homes, which is building the nearby Longacre development. The pupils, whose ages ranged from 4 to 7, proved what fantastic photographers they were, but only twelve images could be chosen for a place in the final calendar. Linden Homes delivered copies of the final calendar to the school and the children were thrilled to see their work in print.

Claire Moore, Kempshott Infants Eco School Coordinator said: “The children really enjoyed picking their favourite outside areas and came up with some fun and quirky ideas of scenes to capture for the calendar. The natural environment and how to look after it are an important part of what we teach the children at Kempshott and so this activity with Linden Homes was a great way to focus on how nature is changing at this time of year.”

Trevor Wicks, Managing Director for Linden Homes Thames Valley commented: “The countryside surrounding Longacre is very beautiful, so a Countryside Calendar made perfect sense. There were some lovely, creative images sent in from the children. It was a difficult choice but, in the end, we could only pick twelve and we think they make a lovely calendar for everyone who bought one to enjoy. The activity was to help the school raise funds and to give the pupils a chance to put their photography talents to the test.”
