The Grand View Of Royal Barham House (The Old Infirmary)
22 Feb 2013

Royal Barham House, which will transform the old infirmary hospital in Truro into 19 beautiful apartments, will be opening its doors for its guests to view the gorgeous new show home, take in the grand view which overlooks Truro cathedral and the viaduct, and look at some of the older parts in progress.

Royal Barham House is the refurbishment of the derelict hospital, which is being lovingly restored by Linden Homes and Westco Properties, the development arm of Devon & Cornwall Housing.

Located to the south of the city centre on the west side of Infirmary Hill, Cornwall’s first hospital was originally constructed in the late 1790s and served the community for over 200 years, before it finally closed in 1999.

Nigel Palmer, managing director of Linden Homes said: “Royal Barham House is absolutely stunning and it’s arguably one of our best developments, rich in heritage and built to a very high specification.

“This event is a key landmark in the building’s history as you can clearly see the before and after stages of the development. We’re delighted the Mayor and some of the nurses who worked in the former hospital are able to attend and look forward to showing them round.”

Tony Franklin, head of business investment for Devon & Cornwall Housing said: “We are delighted to have worked in partnership with Linden Homes throughout the redevelopment of the Royal Cornwall Hospital site and are excited to see the final stages of this high quality project come together in a manner that compliments and respects the heritage of this fine building.”

Alongside this, the FTSE 250 company, which operates across the UK, has been shortlisted under the Company of the Year category. In 2012 Galliford Try was nominated for Best Turnaround Company. Both nominations follow Galliford Try’s housebuilding division, Linden Homes’, rapid expansion over the last three years.
