Staff, Pupils And Parents Join Forces For New Play

There is a flurry of fund raising activity at Boyne Hill Infant and Nursery School, where the staff, children and parents have been working hard to raise money for improvements to their nursery playground.

The school community has been busy holding regular cake sales, while one group of staff (walking off the effects of the cake perhaps) has taken on the 13 mile Boundary Walk challenge.

Elsewhere at the school, Christmas tea towels have been designed and printed - with every child making an artistic contribution: Special cards and mugs have also been produced as part of the fund raising programme.

According to the head teacher Jane Hunsley, the clothes’ bank in the school car park has been a good, regular source of funds:

“Each time the clothing and bedding donations are collected, the items are weighed and the school receives a donation per weight. It’s quite a good money raiser actually and often yields nearly £100 whenever the clothes’ bank is emptied.”

Linden Homes, which has created Boyn Hill Gardens, a development of new apartments and houses near the Primary School, has also donated £500 to the cause.

The school plans to make a series of improvements to the playground, including the installation of a new shelter; the laying of all weather grass and soft flexible tarmac; the addition of a new play house and the purchase of some new bedding plants.
