Safe As Houses ?" Vistry Yorkshire Site Managers Receive Prestigious Industry Accolades
23 Jul 2021

Housebuilder Vistry Yorkshire (part of Vistry Group) is celebrating its very own fab four –with four of its site managers receiving NHBC Pride in the Job Awards in the most highly regarded competition in the industry and benchmark for exceptional site managers.

The first stages of the annual NHBC awards are underway, with Quality Award winners having recently been announced in 11 regions.

The competition is now in its 40th year and judges use a range of categories on which to base their results, including site presentation, quality of build and finish, knowledge of building and organisational skills.

The Yorkshire region is celebrating the achievements of its site managers; Gary Barker from Northfield Meadows in Scarborough, Ben Forster from Mowbray View in Thirsk, Nick Robinson from Bracebridge Manor in Lincoln and previous Pride in the Job winner; John Firth from Wilberforce Park in Pocklington. Vistry Yorkshire achieved the most NHBC Quality Awards within the Vistry Group.

Each year around 16,000 site managers from around the UK are entered into the NHBC Pride in the Job competition, the Yorkshire winners are among around 470 in the country to reach the Quality Award stage.

For John Firth, this marks his third consecutive Quality Award. John also went on to win a Seal of Excellence accolade in the 2020 competition.

Vistry regional build director Simon Cruise said: “This is fantastic news for us as a business and for our four great site managers; all of whom show real determination and a personal and professional commitment to the job – particularly during what has been a challenging 18 months.

“Their role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in housebuilding and Gary, Ben, Nick and John’s collective drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition.

“We look forward to the next stages of the competition and wish our already worthy winners the very best of luck.”

Regional managing director Scott Stothard added: “We are all extremely proud of, and delighted for, our site mangers; all very worthy of industry recognition - using their own drive, determination and willingness to steer a team towards delivering a development we can all be proud of – and in pandemic too!”

Seal of Excellence judging will take place this summer and winners announced later in 2021.
