Pride In The Job Leads To Double NHBC Award Win

Two senior site managers from Linden Homes South West have been awarded a prestigious NHBC (National Housebuilding Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award to acknowledge their constant strive towards perfection.

Pride in the Job continues to recognise the UK's top site managers – with more than 16,000 competing for the awards. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to day running of the sites, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

Honoured for their dedication to build homes of exceptional quality, Linden Homes’ Bob Mitchell and Gary O’Gorman were selected as two of the best site managers, joining almost 450 other Quality Award winners from across the UK.

Gary O’Gorman lives in Plymouth and is a senior site manager at Linden Homes’ Emerge development in Devonport. Commenting on the announcement, Gary, 39, said: “Winning this award means a great deal to me but it really has been a team effort to maintain such high standards.

“I’ve loved creating Emerge, it’s a regeneration development that has breathed new life into Devonport and I feel incredibly proud of the finished result. I am delighted that our hard work has been recognised.”

Bob Mitchell, 61, is a senior site manager at Linden Homes’ Kings Gate development in Kingsteignton. He lives in Plymouth and this is his eighth NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award. Bob said: “Kings Gate has proved to be a very popular development and we have homebuyers waiting for the properties to come onto the market, so I’ve been determined that while the homes will be completed on time, they will also be built to a very high standard.

“For me, it comes down to organisation – I need a plan and everything has to be tidy. It’s been a challenge working on such a busy site, and we even had a visit from the Prime Minister in autumn, but I’ve relished it and I’m thrilled to have won the NHBC Award – it’s been a real team effort.”

The Quality Award winners will now be shortlisted for the Seal of Excellence Awards, which will be presented to the top 130 site managers in autumn.

Nigel Palmer, managing director of Linden Homes South West, said: “It is wonderful that Bob and Gary have been acknowledged as two of the best site managers in the country.

“Competition is really fierce and we’re very proud that they have been recognised – we wish them all the best in the next round.”

Jim Lyons, regional director for NHBC, said: “Congratulations to Bob and Gary, who should be commended for building homes of an outstanding standard in the region.

“For 36 years, Pride in the Job Awards has played a pivotal role in NHBC’s work to raise standards across the industry through the celebration and sharing of best practice.

“Pride in the Job recognises site managers who produce the best quality new homes, built and finished to the highest possible standards. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award-winning home benefit from a high quality product.

“On behalf of everyone at NHBC, I would like to congratulate Bob and Gary on this fantastic achievement.”

Linden Homes is currently building homes in Exeter, Kingsteignton, Okehampton, Goodrington, Paignton, Totnes, Plymouth, Truro, Penryn and Camborne.
