04 May 2020

A health and safety advisor at a national housebuilder has spoken of his pride at donating vital respiratory kit to the critical care unit at a Banbury hospital.

Phil Reay, health, safety and environmental advisor at Vistry Group said it was a great feeling to contribute to the amazing work being carried out on the front line at Horton General Hospital.

Phil worked with colleagues in the Vistry West Midlands region, including Jason Humphrey, site manager at Longford Park in Banbury, to deliver the £500 Versaflo kit – a battery-powered air purifying respirator.

Phil, who lives near the hospital, ensured he kept to Government guidelines when delivering the kit and said: “I picked the Versaflo up from Jason and we are very proud to have donated this brand-new piece of equipment. It feels great to contribute towards supporting fantastic staff at Horton General Hospital. This respirator is a donation on behalf of the whole of Vistry West Midlands region, and we hope it helps as much as possible.”

Dawn Bennett, theatre administrator at Horton General Hospital, said the team were thrilled with the respirator.

"The theatre is very grateful – the Versaflo has been greatly accepted and we are thrilled to bits with Vistry Group’s generosity," she said.

The move follows similar donations by Vistry Group in other parts of the country, including Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, Great Western Hospital in Swindon, and Bradford Royal Infirmary in Yorkshire.
