Mission Accomplished - House Building Trio Complete Tough Charity Challenge
22 Mar 2016

They may be slightly battered and bruised, but the tenacious team from Linden Homes North have successfully completed a gruelling 10km tough mudder-style obstacle charity challenge.

Representing the Bradley Meadow development in Market Weighton, sales executives Alex Rymer and Hannah Sheppard joined site manager Paul Douglass (and his brother Neil) to tackle the recent muddy mission in Leeds, as part of the Major’s Events series.

The course featured everything from crawling through muddy tunnels, having their senses bombarded with smoke, explosions, unexpected smells and sounds to tackling stench trenches.

Paul and his brother Neil used challenge at Bramham Park, which they are undertook on behalf of British Military Fitness York, to raise money for Hull Royal Infirmary’s ICU and neurosurgery wards.

Paul said: “The hospital treated our mum last year after she was diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage and needed surgery.

“This is a frequently fatal condition, but the nurses, doctors and surgeons offered the best care possible, operating in order to stop further bleeds to her brain. Mum is now making a full and speedy recovery.

“We would like to show our appreciation to the staff on these wards by raising as much money as possible.”

The team has smashed its £1,500 target – which poignantly was reached on Mothers’ Day – and their efforts now top a massive £2,600.

Alex added: “We are all beaten up, bruised and battered but we did it. We all have medals and T-shirts for completing the course and Paul and Hannah are looking forward to their next muddy adventure.

“It might take me a little while to catch up with their enthusiasm, It was just really, really hard work for me. Hannah and Paul were amazing and sped off ahead with Neil and the rest of the group, like ducks to water, they were brilliant and I admire them both a lot for how well they did.”
