The Minister for Housing, Mark Prisk MP, visited Newhall:Be near Harlow, Linden Homes’ contemporary development of houses and apartments following the site’s recent nomination for the Stirling Prize and its success as supreme winner at the Housing Design Awards this year.
Mr Prisk was given a guided tour of the apartments and houses at Newhall:Be by Andrew Richards, Linden Homes’ group managing director, the company’s group technical director, Graham Hutton, Adrian Bohr Managing Director of the Eastern regional team along with the award-winning scheme architects.
The visit this week was a chance for Linden Homes and Mr Prisk to discuss a wide range of topics including the development’s construction methods, investment in the local community, mortgage availability and the positive impact of the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
MrPrisk said: “I’m determined we take every possible step to get Britain building, and what I’ve seen at Newhall:Be is a shining example of what can be achieved, using innovative building techniques to do exactly that.
“I would urge other developers to work together to make the most of the innovations I’ve seen here, like off-site manufacturing techniques to build quickly, efficiently and to a high standard of design.”
Andrew Richards, Linden Homes’ group managing director said: “It was a pleasure to show the Minister around one of our flagship developments so he could also see first-hand the benefits housebuilding has brought the area in terms of jobs, homes, innovation and investment.”
During his visit the Minister also met a Linden Homes buyer, Iris Meijer who gave him a personal tour of her home at Newhall:Be.
Mr Richards concluded: “We are always very keen to invite local MPs and community leaders to visit our developments to discuss the positive impact of housebuilding to their local and the wider economy. Our aim is to continue to deliver quality, sustainable developments in communities where people want to live.”
