Top 10 housebuilder, Linden Homes has recently acquired land in Kent and Surrey, falling in line with the company’s focus on growing presence in these counties to provide high-quality housing and much needed homes for families and first-time buyers.
Following the acquisition of 14.35-acre site in Rainham, the deal makes this the first project in Kent for the South East business unit. The site being marketed as ‘Berengrave Gardens’ is a joint venture between Linden Homes and Optivo which will deliver 121 units comprising a range of apartments and family houses for affordable rent, Shared Ownership and open market sale.
Tom Casey, head of partnerships and joint venture schemes at Optivo, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Linden Homes to deliver a high quality, sustainable scheme. The two organisations bring together lots of experience and expertise in delivering contemporary housing to the area. We’re expecting construction work to start by this summer, and I’m pleased that we’ll be enabling more local buyers to find their dream home.”
In the bordering county of Surrey, Linden Homes has exchanged contracts subject for planning of 83 plots in Redhill. The 2.8-acre site will provide a new home for a variety of apartments and houses to suit a range of buyer profiles and requirements.
Linden Homes South East’s Managing Director, Darren Maddox said: “We have been looking at developing within Kent for some time now so buying the new development in Rainham is a great success for the business unit to expand our presence in this county. We also look forward to the site in Redhill helping to continue with our historical success in Surrey.”
The South East team is looking to gain planning permission on both sites in the first quarter of 2019 with a site start date of April for the Rainham development and January 2020 for the development in Redhill.
