LATEST research reveals that the amount of time travelling to and from work is rising – and that five extra minutes have been added to the daily commute time compared to 10 years ago.
Men in their Forties have the longest commute time - spending more than 67 minutes on average getting to and from work each day – according to the TUC.
This equates to an extra 17 minutes of travelling to work compared to women of the same age.
Findings also show that the average length of a daily commute is 54.6 minutes (2012) compared with 50 minutes in 2003.
According to the figures – the average commute time for those living the East Midlands is 48.6 minutes a day compared with 46.8 minutes in the South West and 77.2 minutes in London.
