LATEST research reveals that the amount of time travelling to and from work is rising – and that five extra minutes have been added to the daily commute time compared to 10 years ago.
Men in their Forties have the longest commute time - spending more than 67 minutes on average getting to and from work each day – according to the TUC.
This equates to an extra 17 minutes of travelling to work compared to women of the same age.
Findings also show that the average length of a daily commute is 54.6 minutes (2012) compared with 50 minutes in 2003.
According to the figures – the average commute time for those living the East Midlands is 48.6 minutes a day compared with 46.8 minutes in the South West and 77.2 minutes in London.
With discerning home hunters placing increasing importance on locations in which they live, award-winning developer Linden Homes continues to strive to address the work/life balance issue facing many modern day singletons, couples and families.
Linden Homes seeks to address all these issues when choosing suitable locations at which to build.
Sales director Chris Roads said: “For many, the long daily commute to work is unfortunately the norm – whether it is due to distance between home and the workplace or poor transport networks.
“Our homes are designed and built to be enjoyed, and we want our customers to experience exactly that – every day, and not just at the weekends.
“Equally, the locations for our developments are carefully selected and thought out – taking into account the relevant commuter belts, road networks and transport links – from Lincolnshire and Leicestershire to Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.
“We have a number of existing and coming soon developments which we can comfortably describe as ‘commutable retreats’ – offering the best of both worlds in terms of location and distance to work.”
