Linden Homes Joins The Hogtrail
15 Jul 2014

Local housebuilder Linden Homes has followed the herd in Ogwell by joining Canada Hill Primary School’s Hogtrail.

Delphine Knott, headteacher at Canada Hill Primary School explained: “Following the success of the gorilla trail in Torbay, we decided to come up with our own fun event as part of Arts Week. The theme was 'our local area' so the idea of the Hogtrail was a great way of getting the children involved in creating a real life sculpture trail.”

Some 200 children from years three to six came up with a hog design, and the most creative and popular designs were then transferred onto life-size fibreglass pigs by the children, using acrylic paint and decoupage techniques.

The 18 pigs have now been positioned around the local area, so that families can search for them using a special Hogtrail map and clues, provided by the school.

Delphine Knott added: “The whole community has been involved in this project and the children have loved seeing their designs come to life. Key businesses and organisations in the parish have kindly sponsored and provided a home for the pigs and their many visitors – we’re delighted Linden Homes is taking part in all the fun!”

Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes said: “We loved the idea of a Hogtrail and were really impressed with the design of our finished pig. Streaky is proudly on display in our sales and marketing suite at The Copse and we have had a number of people visit and have their photo taken with him.

“Linden Homes’ involvement is particularly fitting as there was an old pig farm near the development and our roads have been named after pig breeds: Tamworth, Saddleback, Berkshire, Landrace and Gascon Close, so linking with the Hogtrail made perfect sense.”

After the Hogtrail, the pigs will be returned to the school and some will be auctioned to raise funds for the project.

Canada Hill Primary School is situated in Ogwell, on the outskirts Newton Abbot and is graded as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. The Hogtrail map can be downloaded from the school’s website: http://www.canadahill.devon.sch.uk or you can pick up a copy from The Copse’s sales and marketing suite.

The Copse is the last phase of Linden Homes’ successful Ogwell Brook development. There is currently a selection of four bedroom detached homes available.

The show home and marketing suite is open Thursdays to Mondays from 10am – 5pm off Reynell Road, East Ogwell, Newton Abbot, TQ12 6YA. For more information contact Louise Andrews on 0844 488 3532, email copse.ogwell@lindenhomes.co.uk
