Linden Homes’ new build manager, Mike Crawford has raised over £6,500 by trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for Parkinson’s UK, after his father was diagnosed with the condition.
Mike said: “My father lives with Parkinson's but with its research and continuous improvements to medicine, it means he continues to lead a normal life. My aim was to raise £1 for every one of the 5,895 meters above sea level that I had to conquer; I’m over the moon that I managed to raise so much and I’d like to thank Linden Homes for its donation.
“It was one of the hardest, but the most rewarding challenges of my life, but my father has always moved mountains for me, and I really wanted to climb one for him.”
Mike and his group raised over £90,000 for Parkinson’s UK, which will fund a Parkinson’s nurse for over two years.
Linden Homes South West managing director Nigel Palmer said: “What a fantastic achievement! We’re very proud of Mike and pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause.”
