Blaby & Whetsone Youth Club is now in its 50th anniversary year, and organisers at the facility are well into their renovation project to mark the milestone.
Working towards a £675,000 target to help develop the club into a community hub and refurbish the existing building and grounds, the organisation has received a £250 donation from Linden Homes Midlands.
The company has announced plans to build 84 two, three and four-bedroom homes at the Trinity Brook development in the village.
The donation is part of Linden Homes’ on going commitment to support facilities for communities in areas where it is building.
Sales director Chris Roads said: “This is such an exciting and worthy cause, which has the backing and support of so many dedicated people serving the community, that we are delighted to be able to help in some way.”
The club, which is a non-profit charity organisation relying on fundraising, hopes to continue its expansion plans and build a service which is at the hub of the community.
It already provides 24 football teams, a youth club and more than 450 members.
Development officer at the rebranded The Activity Centre, Lauren Withers said: “This is a very exciting time for us and we are delighted that Linden Homes has shared the vision we have to develop this centre for existing young people and others which may move into the village as part of the new homes on sale.”
It is hoped that the Linden Homes donation will go towards funding a multi-purpose outdoor area at the youth club for use by all children.
