Linden Homes' Avery Hill Regeneration Gets The Go-ahead From Greenwich Council
19 Dec 2016

The derelict grounds of an old Gaelic football site in New Eltham will be transformed into a spectacular new housing development by award-winning housebuilder, Linden Homes who will also create an open space for sports and recreation to honour its heritage.

Used for four decades as a place for International Irish football and hurling, the 13-acre site on Avery Hill Road was left disused after the Gaelic Athletic Association moved its grounds to Ruislip in 1992.

After two years of pending planning permission, involving a public consultation in November 2014 when Linden Homes showcased their proposals for the site and sought feedback from the local community, the plans for 135 new homes (92 private and 43 shared ownership) and a publicly accessible open space have been approved by the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The collection of property offer a series of three, four and five bedroom house. The homes are ideal for families upgrading their current home, or downsizers from outside the area looking for better value than surrounding villages.

With good schools only a short distance away, the development will be a 1.6 mile centre-point between St Thomas More Catholic School and Montbelle Primary School, with Greenwich University’s Avery Hill campus only a 16 minute walk away.

The properties are also served by excellent communication links; the New Eltham train station is only half a mile away, with a direct line into London Bridge taking a mere 20 minutes.

Claire Gibbins, Sales and Marketing Director at Linden Homes South East, said: “The land at Avery Hill carries a great deal of sentiment for the community due to its sporting history, so it is more important than ever for Linden Homes to keep channels of communication open with the public when considering the development.

“Redesigning the barren land for public use will allow us to maintain the site’s reputation as a place of recreation and leisure, while the new homes will create extensive job opportunities and affordable housing in a thriving London borough.”

Ground works on the new development will start in January 2017 with the opening of the show homes and launch planned for Autumn next year.

With a reputation for bespoke and creative developments in prime locations, award winning Linden Homes prides itself on its high quality of design and high specification finish.
