Leader Of Barnet Council Welcomes Delivery Of New Homes At Linden Homes' Millbrook Park Development
23 Oct 2014

Councillor Richard Cornelius, Leader of Barnet Council, has welcomed the rapid delivery of new homes at Linden Homes’ latest scheme within the wider Millbrook Park development at Mill Hill. Millbrook Park is a new community that is gradually taking shape on the site of the former Inglis Barracks, delivering new homes, office space, panoramic park and primary school.

Across its two phases, Linden Homes is building 241 new homes, of which 33 will be affordable properties for local families. The first phase consists of 103 open market homes. A selection of these homes have already been released and fully sold out with almost 70% of the properties acquired by people living within five miles of the scheme.

Touring the site along with Linden’s Land Director, Nick Laugharne, and Marketing & Communications Manager, Naomi Burrell, Councillor Cornelius first visited the Sales & Marketing Suite to see a detailed model of the homes being built before donning protective equipment and getting out on site to see work underway.

Councillor Cornelius was keen to ensure that the new homes were on track and that work was underway on the affordable units as part of the second phase. He was briefed on how Linden Homes is addressing the skills shortage in construction which includes taking on eight apprentices (both directly and via sub-contractors) at Millbrook Park.

Following the visit, Councillor Cornelius said: “Barnet Council is a key partner in the regeneration of the Inglis Barracks site. We have always viewed it as an ideal location for a new community but it is so important to get the detail right. That is why I was keen to get on site today and see what Linden Homes is delivering. I have to say that I was impressed not just by the quality of new build and design, but also by the sympathetic restoration of the former Officers’ Mess.”

He added: “I was particularly pleased to learn that Linden Homes and its contractors have taken on eight apprentices between them on this site. This helps the industry retain the skills it needs but also gives these young people a future career. The site is being transformed at a rapid pace.’
