It Is Certainly Not Grim Up North
23 Apr 2013

Grim up north? “Certainly not” say one happy couple from Berkshire who have left the ‘Royal County’ behind for a new life in the Wear Valley.

Christine and Keith Bullock have just moved in to their new home at Howden Green the development by Linden Homes’ in Howden-le-Wear and they are delighted they relocated.

Said Christine: “We have a real love for the North East of England and would recommend anyone to come and visit the area. Our intention was always to retire up here in a few years but we were so impressed by the Howden Green development, its rural location and the excellent quality and value of the homes available, that we couldn’t resist making the move a little earlier than first planned!”

Keith, 55 and Christine, 51, had visited the region on a number of walking holidays and short trips and knew that it was the place they wanted to be. But it was on one such visit to County Durham last autumn that the couple took the first steps on the path to making their dream reality.

Christine added: “We saw Howden Green advertised and out of curiosity decided to pay it a visit, along with some other new developments in the county.  We were immediately impressed by what Linden Homes had to offer and after visiting the others, felt that it was streets ahead. The site is small, but well spaced and provides just the rural setting we were looking for.”

On their second visit the couple discovered that the Langley showhome that they had fallen in love with on their first visit, had become available to buy and Keith went straight down to the bank to withdraw the money to reserve it.

They have now left behind their rented property in Bracknell, for a nice new home of their own “up North”.

“The Sales Advisor at Howden Green couldn’t do enough to help us and the whole process was smooth and trouble free. The only thing we have to arrange now is employment as we aren’t quite ready to retire just yet, but couldn’t let this opportunity pass us by!”

There are just four homes remaining on the development. These include the Greta - a three storey townhouse - and The Wear, a two storey, four bedroom detached house. There are also a range of assisted purchase schemes available including part exchange, new buy, assisted move, step up and the government backed Help to Buy, through which purchasers with a 5% deposit may be able to get a shared equity loan of up to 20% of the property price.

For more information visit Howden Green, Howden-le-Wear, DL15 8BF.  The marketing suite is open Thursday to Monday from 10:00am to 5:00pm or call on: 01388 763 436
