Summer just wouldn’t be the same without a traditional village fete - and in North Yorkshire, residents are doing it in style.
The village green in Green Hammerton is the venue for next month’s County Fayre, which along with the traditional host of attractions and displays, will be boosting coffers for good causes in the region.
Organsiers expect the event to attract around 5,000 visitors, and the event will be raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Green Hammerton Recreational Charity and Open Country – which helps those with learning and physical disabilities enjoy the countryside.
And with a number of family-friendly housing developments in the area, Linden Homes North are among the keen supporters of such popular community event, and have made a donation to the organising committee.
Linden Homes sales manager Julie Hubbard said: “This is a wonderful event, very family and fun orientated with such a range of attractions throughout the day. The three charities benefiting from this Fayre all do a fantastic job.”
The Green Hammerton Country Fayre takes place on Sunday July 10 from 10am until 6pm, with ample free parking.
A twist on the traditional country fayre, the event will include; falconry, hot air balloons, clay pigeon shooting, dog activities, Yorkshire sword dancing, Farmers' market, a brass band, a live theatre performance, live music, Punch & Judy, archery, garden produce and craft tent, stalls, a children's activity marquee, refreshments and much more.
Event committee member Jane Bannan said: ‘We are really looking forward to this year’s event and another great turnout. Our thanks to Linden Homes for their support and we hope to raise around £30,000 for our three chosen charities.”
