Winter can be a tough time for many, but for those people who find themselves on the streets it can be unbearable. Homeless shelters can be their only lifeline.
To help, Galliford Try Partnerships’ and Linden Homes’ North West division have donated over £5,000 worth of goods to Ty Golau, a local homeless shelter in Rhyl.
Ty Golau, which is open 365 days a year, provides emergency nightly accommodation and hot meals to men and women over the age of 18, who find themselves homeless and in need of help.
The appeal, which was organised by bid co-ordinator, Alyssa Knowles, saw the company contribute £5,500 worth of items to help local rough sleepers fight the cold. This included providing new hats, coats and fleeces, as well as jumpers supplied by Parkers Merchant.
In addition, staff at both Galliford Try Partnerships’ headquarters in Warrington and its Rhyl site on Gronant Street, donated over £100 worth of toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, soap, face wash, flannels, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving foam & razors. Many of which are deemed luxuries for those living on the streets.
Alyssa said: “We are delighted to be able to support the hard work and essential services Ty Golau provides for rough sleepers in Rhyl. With temperatures at night plummeting throughout the winter months, we hope our donations will make a real difference to those who access Ty Golau, during this cold season.
