Festive Boost For Local Food Bank
30 Dec 2020

Edible Links Food Bank has received a festive boost from Linden Homes.

The developer, which is building The Green development in Grendon, has donated over £400 worth of food to the Food Bank to help with their annual Christmas hampers.

The hampers, which will include festive treats, will be given to the users of the Food Bank to help bring a little extra festive cheer and spirit.

Gavin Hodges, Warehouse Manager at Edible Links Food Bank, said: “We’d like to thank Linden Homes for their generous donation, which will enable us to provide special Christmas Hampers at what can be a particularly difficult time of the year.

“Linden Homes’ donation will allow us to provide even more families with that little bit extra this year which they may not otherwise have been able to afford. We hope Linden Homes’ kindness and generosity will help to make Christmas better for them.”

The Healthy Living Network manages the Edible Links project based in Atherstone, North Warwickshire. Previously known as North Warwickshire Food Bank, Edible Links uses food surplus to reduce poverty, stress and diet-related ill health. The food bank provides community groups with food, enabling them to help more local people.

Andrew Handslip, Head of Sales at Linden Homes East Midlands, said: “The volunteers at Edible Links Food Bank do an amazing job to help those in need of assistance, especially around this time of year. As a result of the pandemic, it’s been a particularly challenging year for many. For various reasons, people can suddenly be left without enough money to feed themselves or their families, and thankfully they have somewhere to turn.

“We are very proud to be able to help bring some extra Christmas cheer to those making use of the food banks’ services. We are always very keen to be involved in the communities that we are building in.

“We also want to say a huge thank you to two of our residents from The Green for their contributions, and a special shoutout to Billy Miller of Miller and Watson Joinery, who made a large contribution too.”

The Green is in the small village of Grendon and is ideally located close to major roads and transport links serving nearby local towns including Atherstone, Tamworth and Nuneaton. It is also within commuting distance to some of the region’s major cities, such as Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham.
