While some people attempt hair-raising stunts for charity – a team from developer Linden Homes Midlands is opting for a more subtle stubble approach!
A tache force of head office moutasteers are among thousands of men from around the UK and globally to sign up for Movember.
Each November, men grow moustaches to raise awareness of, and funds for, prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men – registering with the charity and seeking sponsorship for their efforts.
Since 2003 Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
As well as cancer and other health issues, mental well being and encouraging men to talk about their feelings forms part of the Movember campaign – with statistics revealing that 60 men are lost to suicide each hour across the world.
Leading the tache force is Linden Homes Midlands technical manager Gary Fane. He said: “We are delighted to be raising money for and awareness of men’s health to assist The Movember movement!
“On a personal level, like many of us, I have lost loved ones through various types of cancer so in memory to them I am quite happy to look more foolish than usual for a few weeks!”
Joining Gary for the Linden Homes Mo-vement are; Alan Lusha, Fraser Hopes, Gary Martin, Mark Bond, Matthew Parker and William Baxandall have reached the half way mark, and some are boosting their sponsorship efforts through cycling or running a 60 km target during the month!
