Some of the area’s most vulnerable people will be enjoying an element of cheer and comfort this Christmas, thanks to the efforts of the local business community – including Vistry Yorkshire.
Caring staff from the company (part of Vistry Group which comprises Linden Homes and Bovis Homes) have supported St George’s Crypt, a local charity that supports the homeless and vulnerable.
All companies on the Thorpe Park business park were invited to collect items from the charity’s ‘most wanted’ list, which included food, warm clothing and toiletries – which will be delivered to those who need them most in time for Christmas.
The appeal attracted a huge response, with dozens of items being donated by Vistry Yorkshire staff. In addition, the developer has further boosted charity efforts by paying for a £150 online grocery shop (choosing food items from the list) and has also donated a decorated Christmas tree complete with lights.
Saffron Allen, coordinator of the ParkLife community at Thorpe Park Leeds, said: “it’s great to be supporting St. George’s Crypt again this year, after having to skip our annual collection last Christmas. Vistry’s generous donation is sure to make a huge difference to those being supported by the Crypt over the festive season, whether that’s in the Crypt’s emergency housing, at their free daily sit-down lunch service or through their other engagement initiatives.”
