With a giant scarecrow putting in an appearance, you could be thinking that there is a yellow brick road as part of this story … well, almost!
Linden Homes North is building its commitment to the community by not only sponsoring one of the fine looking creations for the forthcoming Pinewoods Scarecrow Stroll in Harrogate – but is helping to pay towards the resurfacing of a well-used local footpath.
The house builder has donated £1,000 towards the estimated £20,000 needed for work on the path stretching from RHS Harlow Carr to Harlow Moor Road, close to Linden Homes’ exclusive Sussex Court development.
The path is more than 10 years old, and its poor state means that it is no longer suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Other funding is due from additional fundraising and grants and work is expected to be complete in September.
Linden Homes sales manager Julie Hubbard said: “We are delighted to help with this project and continue our association with the Pinewoods Conservation Group, which is a very worthwhile charity promoting the maintenance and conservation of the environment within Harrogate.
“We are also looking forward to supporting the Scarecrow Stroll as a follow on to the sponsorship of the decorated bicycle event last year. The charity does so much for the local community on the conservation side, and we are very pleased to be on board.”
Neil Hind, chairperson of the Pinewoods Conservation Group, said: “We really appreciate the continued support from Linden Homes North.
“Not only have they purchased membership for all their new homeowners, and taken part in a number of events, but they have made a very generous financial contribution to the much needed resurfacing of the southern end of the main footpath.
“We know this path will be well used by current and new residents of the area.”
