Borehamwood's Past Sealed By Kenilworth Primary Pupils
16 Jun 2017

Taking inspiration from their history lessons, Borehamwood pupils from Kenilworth Primary School have been preserving records of life in 2017 at Linden Homes’ Empire Court housing development.

Nursery and reception pupils from the local school, along with reception teacher Lisa Hardaker, partnered with Linden Homes Chiltern to create a dinosaur-themed time capsule to coincide with the school’s current curriculum topic.

Collecting keepsakes including popular toys, books and newspapers, the pupils placed the objects into a time capsule, before burying their treasures at the award-winning housebuilder’s development on Studio Way in Borehamwood. A talk with the Linden Homes team about the new homes and the opportunity to see the progress of the building works, formed a packed timetable for the four – six year olds.

Kenilworth Primary School’s reception teacher, Lisa Hardaker, commented: “The time capsule project invitation came at the perfect time when our early-years pupils were just starting to learn about dinosaurs, history and fossils.

“We’re very grateful to Linden Homes for providing the children with an interactive history lesson. The pupils love the thought of the time capsule being unearthed in the future for people to discover their items and take a small glimpse at what life was like in 2017.”

Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Chiltern, said: “The time capsule project with Kenilworth Primary School has been ideal to mark Empire Court’s near completion.

“With generous outdoor spaces including a park landscaped specifically for public use, community really is at the heart of Empire Court. It was a pleasure for the team to welcome the youngsters, take a look at the items they’d gathered and see them place their stamp on a development that we hope will benefit their local area for years to come.”

Empire Court is a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes, ideal for first time buyers, young professionals and families alike. 90% of the development is now sold with a selection of two bedroom apartments remaining, potential buyers can view the stunning show apartment currently open to view.

Located on London’s commuter belt, Empire Court residents can still enjoy the surrounding countryside with Aldenham Country Park just two miles from Borehamwood. The town centre is under a mile from the development, while Elstree and Borehamwood train station is 1.5 miles away, providing frequent direct services to London St. Pancras International.
