The weather may have not been textbook for a school summer fete – but the rain wasn’t enough to dampen youngsters’ spirits in Helpston!
Pupils and visitors to the John Clare Primary School fete near Peterborough were still able to enjoy all the traditions of the event, which included tombola, raffle, side stalls and attractions.
And one of the highlights of the fete was the presentation of a cheque to the Friends of John Clare Primary from local house builder Linden Homes Midlands, as part of the school’s quest to raise money to buy tablets for use by the pupils.
The fete was organised by the Friends of John Clare Primary, who contact Linden Homes to seek their support as part of the fundraising efforts.
Linden Homes forged links with the school following last summer’s launch of the Poet’s Corner development in the village – where a range of family homes are currently being built.
Linden Homes sales director Chris Roads said: “We are delighted to be able to help the school in their fundraising efforts and thank everyone for making us so welcome at their summer fete.”
Head teacher at John Clare Primary School, Rachel Simmons said: “Despite the weather, the fete was a huge success and our thanks to everyone who supported us on the day and in particular to Linden Homes for their kind and generous donation.”
