A Brand New, More Spacious Home For A Growing Family - At Edge
17 Dec 2014

With a young family growing fast, Mark and Sanaa Davis knew that sooner or later they’d need to move to a larger house. In 2013, the couple who were living in a two bedroom house in Church Langley with their daughter, heard about Linden Homes’ plans to create more new homes at Edge, Newhall in nearby Harlow.

It was last year, before nine month old Sami was born, that the couple decided they needed one extra bedroom and were particularly keen to make their next move into a new build home:

“We had been aware of Edge for a while and I registered our interest with Linden Homes in about August of 2013. Once we were on their system we were kept informed when new homes were released. We were very keen to stay in the same area – our daughter, Lilia is at school in Church Langley and we wanted her to be able to stay there.

“We were after a brand new home too: We like the fact that they are low maintenance and have very good insulation – that is really important to me. We also love the idea of everything being brand new; so it’s all working well, clean and tidy. In terms of the look of the property, we really liked the design of the Edge homes, they are very different to the other new build developments we’d viewed.”

The couple went to visit Edge and initially looked at the house style known as a Murphy – a three bedroom home. When they discussed their requirements with the Linden Homes’ sales executive, it was suggested they talk through the figures with a mortgage expert and, while they were visiting the sales and marketing suite, she put them in touch with the New Homes Mortgage Helpline. After a discussion on the phone it became clear to Mark that they would, with the aid of Help to Buy, be able to afford a larger three bedroom house than they’d originally thought:

“After chatting through the details of the Help to Buy scheme, we settled on the bigger three bedroom Epstein home, which was great. We also decided to opt for Assisted Move.”

Assisted Move is a scheme set up by Linden Homes to make it easier to move house. Linden Homes will deal with the estate agents and help you get the best price for your old home – they will even pay all the estate agents’ fees. The scheme makes it easier to secure your new home. Mark said it worked very well for them:

“Assisted Move just simplified the whole system: Linden Homes dealt with the sale of our old home for us. We knew it wouldn’t be hard to sell the house: Church Langley is very sought after and lots of people come down from London in the hope of buying a house there. But the Assisted Move scheme just took all that side of the move off our hands, which is really useful when you have a young family and life is so busy. It just helped to push the process through more quickly too.”

The Davis family moved into their new three bedroom home at Edge at the end of August this year. It has worked really well for everybody: Sanaa works at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow and Mark works in London:

“Edge, Newhall is the ideal location for us: I can commute and Sanaa can get to work easily. And Stansted is just ten minutes away, which is great because we love travelling.”

They say they already feel part of the Edge community and Mark believes that the sense of community will just get better and better:

“It’s perfect for us. We have more room and the development has a lovely feel to it: There are plans to build a school, a playgroup and a restaurant. It’s great. It’s why we wanted to move.”
