Why make Kent your home?

Known as the ‘Garden of England’, Kent produces some of the finest ales and wines in the UK. The county’s picturesque countryside and coastlines have also provided inspiration for a number of notable authors and artists over the years, including novelist Charles Dickens and the landscape painter, JMW Turner.

This historic county is home to the elegant city of Canterbury, with a cathedral that is thought to date back 1,400 years, featuring a Romanesque crypt and medieval stained glass. Kent’s charming coastal towns include Whitstable, to the north, where visitors will find colourful cottages and a harbourside fish market, and nearby Margate, home to the Turner Contemporary art gallery, the restored 1920s amusement park Dreamland and the town’s famous sandy beach.

Other Kent beaches include Ramsgate and Dungeness, while on the county’s southeast coast, the famous White Cliffs of Dover overlook the English Channel. There are also walking trails to enjoy nearby, plus the Victorian South Foreland Lighthouse and Dover and Leeds castles. Walkers, cyclists and those who just appreciate the fineries of the great outdoors can also explore the Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Anyone seeking a spot of retail therapy can visit the famous Bluewater shopping centre, which offers a plethora of high street and luxury retailers, restaurants, beauty salons and an IMAX cinema.
