The site team at Linden Homes’ Spinnaker development in Westbury has raised an impressive £1,223 for local charities by holding a Christmas jumper charity day.
The builders, who donned Christmas jumpers to complement their hi-vis jackets and hard hats, held a series of events throughout the day – including a breakfast roll sale, afternoon raffle, cake sale and the managers had sponsored wet sponges thrown at them – all in aid of The Grand Appeal, The Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.
Two potted Christmas trees, an artificial tree and three bags of decorations were also donated to Westbury Area Network to help local families.
Assistant site manager, Scott Dular commented: “We’re thrilled to have raised so much money for charity. It was a fun day and it was so well supported by our trades. It makes me proud to work in the construction industry as everyone got involved in the day’s activities and I know it will make a big difference to the local charities too.”
Ian Cooper from Westbury Area Network said: “Westbury Area Network opened its doors in July 2020 and we are committed to supporting local residents. It’s an expensive time of year and so we were very grateful to Linden Homes for donating the Christmas trees and decorations for local families in need.”
Helen Haskell from The Grand Appeal commented: “What a fantastic way to raise money and awareness for the hospital, it looks like everyone had a great time and the money will make a real difference to sick babies and children receiving treatment and care in Bristol Children’s Hospital.”
The site team is creating new homes locally at Spinnaker, a development of three and four bedroom properties, built in joint partnership with Wates Developments. Located off Station Approach, the development is just a mile from the town centre, near local shops, schools and within easy access to the mainline Westbury train station.
