Successful Thames Valley Launch For Housebuilder Of The Year Linden Homes
16 May 2012

Housebuilder of the Year Linden Homes confirmed its strong plans for national growth with the successful official launch of its new Thames Valley region.

Over 100 business people in the property sector across the area attended a business briefing at the Barcelo Hotel in Oxford.

Divisional managing director Greg Locke and Thames Valley managing director Peter Carpinelli outlined Linden Homes’ success this year, its growth strategy and some of the exciting plans for buying land.

The regional branch based at Milton Park in Abingdon has hit the ground running with a series of prestigious developments underway that are strengthening the company’s reputation for quality and design.

It already has four eye-catching developments in the pipeline: its flagship 144-home Exemplar Park at Aylesbury; the exclusive Royal Chase collection of 16 new properties at Woolton Hill, near Newbury; seven rural homes at The Maples, in Sonning Common, near Henley; and finally a scheme to create 15 quality new homes in the village of East Hanney.

The biggest project, Exemplar Park, is part of a grand 3,000-home site which when completed will also feature community facilities, employment space, a food store and 10 other smaller shops, as well as three new schools – one of which will be a state-of-the-art academy.

Linden Homes is part of the Galliford Try Group. Divisional managing director Greg Locke addressed the 100-strong audience.

He said: “Judging by the turnout, we are creating huge interest in the region because we have a successful business model, an excellent national reputation and cash position to be poised to buy the best land for development.

“I live in this area so it’s especially important for me to be proud of the positive impact and economic growth Linden Homes will bring to the Thames Valley.”

He added: “Although the house building industry is facing challenging times, this is an exciting moment for Linden Homes and shows our determination to evolve and grow from a solid footing, creating more homes to meet the country’s housing need.

“The quality of the Thames Valley homes in development makes clear that we will achieve this while focussing on our core philosophy of building superb homes where people want to live and that are welcomed by communities.

“The region needs investment, jobs and growth, and we are delighted to be playing our part to help boost the local economies.”

Peter Carpinelli added: “I am proud to be leading this region and see a bright future ahead, with an expanding list of quality developments that will reflect the special character of this beautiful part of the country.

“The Thames Valley is a popular place to live and homes are in high demand, so we are very keen to start providing sustainable properties which fit into their surroundings and add to Linden Homes’ growing reputation.”

Linden Homes is one of the industry’s few players currently striving for significant growth, and recently became the fifth largest housebuilder in the UK.

It is bolstered by a strong balance sheet and cash position, and is actively seeking to boost its land bank, including regeneration and refurbishment. The company’s strategic land holdings stand at 1,200 acres.

The Thames Valley region will aim to take a key role in its sector of the south-east housing market, which is enjoying some of the healthiest conditions nationally.
