Ramsey Colts Football Development Set To Receive New Clubhouse
10 Jan 2019

Linden Homes through Huntingdonshire District Council has contributed major funding towards delivery of a new clubhouse for Ramsey Colts FD. The Colts have been seeking to deliver a purpose-built club house since their formation in 1995 and finally secured a grant via the Football Foundation Facilities Fund earlier this year after moving to a new ground on a long-term lease.

Linden Homes, whose St Thomas Park development is located within the town provided the funds as part of its Section 106 contributions. The money was released early by the housebuilder to allow the Colts to raise their full share of the project funding costs and for the project to commence. The modular clubhouse is currently being assembled by Integra Buildings at their factory in Hull.

The clubhouse is expected to be delivered to the site in January 2019. Following this, the club plan a ‘grand opening event’ in Summer 2019 to mark this big occasion.

Andrew Hodgson of Chairman of Ramsey Colts FD said:

“We are extremely grateful to Linden Homes for allowing this Section 106 money to be released to us earlier than they were required to do so. The money when added to the funds already raised made up the full percentage of funding which the Colts were required to raise before the project could commence under the terms of the Football Foundation grant. We are all absolutely delighted that the project is now fully funded, and we are looking forward to having the new clubhouse in place for the 2019/20 season.”

Robert Church, Managing Director of Linden Homes Eastern said:

“We are delighted to have contributed towards Ramsey Colts’ clubhouse, which I am sure will be enjoyed for many years to come. Investing in communities is something we at Linden Homes pride ourselves in, and I am delighted that we have provided so much value to the club. Ramsey has a wonderful close-knit community and rich culture, which is why so many couples and families want to move here.”

Councillor John Palmer, Executive Councillor for Partnerships and Well-being, said: “Gaining Section 106 funding from developments to support sport and leisure facilities in the district is vitally important. Better facilities will ensure people have a greater experience when participating in sport or leisure and help create that all important habit for life. Ramsey Colts is an important club within the local community and is in need of new changing facilities, so it is great that the Section 106 contribution has been able to support the club’s funding application to the Football Foundation.”
