Quadrupling The Christmas Spirit For Broomfield Hospital's Young Patients
18 Dec 2017

For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Linden Homes Eastern’s staff have embraced the Christmas spirit and gathered sacks full of presents for children spending Christmas at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

For the past three years Linden Homes have generously gathered and donated a variety of gifts to the patients on Broomfields’ Phoenix ward. With the success of the past few years behind them, Linden Homes, as part of their 2017 Christmas appeal, pulled together again to bring a host of festive cheer to the children.

Linden Homes Eastern launches a Christmas appeal every year to support vulnerable members of the local community and being able to provide a variety of gifts to the children at Broomfield is a highlight every time. The ward is unfortunately home to children of all ages over the Christmas period and Linden Homes ensured to bring plenty of toys for new-borns and children, as well as exciting gifts for teenagers so that everyone was treated to a little something special.

Lead Play Specialist from the Phoenix Children’s Ward at the Trust, Sue Hursit, said: “We have been so thrilled in the past by the gift donations from Linden Homes, we were absolutely delighted to welcome them back to ward this year.

“Christmas at the ward can be a difficult time for both the children and their families. Whilst our key focus is to provide the best possible care to our patients, it is important, even more so at this time of year, to provide joy and appropriate entertainment for the children”.

Yvonne Carter, Charities Support Officer for Mid Essex Hospital’s ‘Our Charity’ said: “I would like to again express a huge thank you to Linden Homes for joining us in making Christmas come alive on the Phoenix ward once again this year”.

Trevor Dempsey, managing director at Linden Homes Eastern, said: “It has been wonderful that we have had the opportunity to provide the children with gifts again, for the fourth year in a row! Each time, seeing the children’s faces light up when we arrive and the kindness and gratitude from parents and children alike make this an absolutely brilliant experience.

“Once again, I have been overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness from the Linden Eastern team and local community, I’m already looking forward to hopefully making next year our fifth.”

Linden Homes is currently creating developments in Hackney (King Edwards), Thaxted (Meadow Gardens) and Maldon (Limebrook).
