Linden Homes is encouraging young people to get active this summer by supporting a new mountain biking club, which has qualified for the Devon County Finals!
Pupils from years five and six at Blackpool School in Liverton, Newton Abbot achieved second place in the final of the Devon SSP Inter schools cycling competition for local primary schools, which took place at Haldon Forest.
Andy Southcott from Friends of Blackpool School and founder of the mountain biking club said: “The uptake has been fantastic - we have 27 members, enabling us to have three teams for future events.
“We’re delighted Linden Homes was able to help us by providing much-needed cycling jackets. There is a huge amount of talent in the club already, so it’s going to be exciting to see how the teams develop.”
Nigel Palmer, managing director for Linden Homes said: “It’s great to see schools proactively choosing different sports for its pupils to participate in and we’re proud to play our part in encouraging them to progress further. It’s a fantastic achievement to qualify for the Devon County Finals in the club’s first year – they’re obviously ones to watch!”
