Linden Homes Raises £8,000 At Its Charity Golf Day
30 Jul 2013

Leading housebuilder Linden Homes has raised a staggering £8,000 at its charity golf day for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Rowcroft Hospice.

Key stakeholders were invited to the event where they played golf at Torquay’s 18 hole golf course. There was also a hole in one competition to win a BMW, a longest drive and putting competition, as well as a tempting raffle.

Nigel Palmer, managing director of Linden Homes said: “We’re absolutely delighted that our first charity golf day was such a resounding success. Not only was the event fun for everyone involved but we managed to raise a huge sum of money - £4,000 each - for two very worthwhile charities.”

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is the charity which raises the funds to keep two emergency air ambulances flying. This is no small feat as each and every year the DAAT has to raise in the region of £4.5 million to keep both of the helicopters airborne.

Fran Carnell, DAAT’s community fundraising team leader said: “This is a fantastic amount of money.  We’re always amazed and delighted that a single golf day can generate such significant funds – and everyone who plays on the day has so much fun in the process. The support from all involved is very much appreciated and we would like to thank the team at Linden Homes for all their hard work.”

Rowcroft Hospice serves the people of South Devon by providing specialist care (including nursing care, medical treatment, therapies, advice and support) to patients with progressive, life limiting illnesses.

Laura Cameron, community fundraising manager for Rowcroft Hospice said: "We're extremely grateful to Linden Homes for this generous donation. I hope that the staff had a great time on the golf day; what a brilliant way to support the hospice whilst having a huge amount of fun! Their donation will help us to continue providing our vital care across South Devon, to those living with life-limiting illness and supporting their families."

Another charity golf day is being planned for next year.
