Linden Homes Presents £14,000 Fundraising To Great Ormond Street
19 Dec 2014

A cheque for more than £14,000 raised from a charity golf day in Surrey organised by top five housebuilder Linden Homes has been presented to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The money was collected by the company’s Caterham-based South East region at an event in October at Foxhills Golf and Country Club in Ottershaw. It will go towards funding part of the hospital’s family accommodation.

The golf day was supported by more than 200 paying players and guests, including a special appearance by former Premier League referee Graham Poll. It featured prizes, a “beat the pro” challenge and a charity auction.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity needs to generate more than £50 million every year to provide world-class care for the 240,000-plus patient visits it receives annually.

After handing over the funds on Tuesday December 16th, the Linden Homes team was taken on a tour of the hospital to find out more about how the donation will be used.

They were welcomed by Richard Bowyer, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity director of marketing and public fundraising, and Jenny Pearce, fundraising executive.

Jenny Pearce said: “We’re very grateful to Linden Homes South East for choosing to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity through their golf day.

“The money raised will go towards funding part of our family accommodation, a place for families to stay, when a child is receiving care at the hospital. The donations raised will help us to make a difference to patients and families from across the UK.”

Darren Maddox, managing director at Linden Homes South East, added: “It was wonderful to see the work Great Ormond Street Hospital does for its young patients and their families. We’re very proud to help such a good cause, and grateful to all the golf day donors.

“As a housebuilder we are very keen to do more than deliver homes and getting involved with fundraising events and helping important organisations is our way of doing just that.”
