Pupils from Hunts Grove Primary Academy in Hardwicke learned about all things health and safety on a recent construction site visit in nearby Quedgeley.
Linden Homes, part of Vistry Group, invited the Year 2 students to see the new homes being built at its Green Oaks location and learn about the risks and dangers of working on a building site.
After hearing a talk from the site manager, the pupils were given a tour of the show home by the sales team to get a real feel for what brings a housing development together.
Mrs Janet Crompton, SENCo and Year 2 teacher at Hunts Grove Primary Academy, said: “The children were all fascinated to hear about and see the building process from beginning to end, including some of the machinery.”
Lee Wines, site manager at Green Oaks, said: “With Hunts Grove Primary Academy being so close to Green Oaks, we felt it would be a great opportunity to teach the pupils a valuable lesson on health and safety at construction sites.
“The children were really engaged in the session and seemed to enjoy learning lots of new things. They also got the chance to explore the show home and play outside in the garden which was great fun for them.
“We hope the students enjoyed visiting Green Oaks just as much as we liked hosting the experience.”
There will be mixture of two, three and four-bedroom Linden Homes properties at the Green Oaks development, off Rudloe Drive, in Quedgeley.
