Homebuyers now have the chance to snap up a new property in Cam as the first homes at a new location in the village have just been released for sale.
Once complete, there will be 97 homes on the Linden Homes development at Millfields, including 68 houses for private sale and 29 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
Construction work is well under way at the site off Box Road and the first residents are expected to move in this autumn.
The new homes are also bringing a significant boost for local services, particularly education.
Linden Homes is part of Vistry Group, which also includes Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships. The developer is constructing a development which will contribute more than £400,000 into the local community as part of the planning agreement for the Linden Homes Millfields development.
This will include payments of £278,078 for primary education, £77,862 for pre-schools in the area, and £44,100 towards library services. Linden Homes will also be carrying out pedestrian improvement works off site in Cam as part of the agreement.
The company is also planning another project to make it easier for people to make the most of the scenic area. It will create a footway and cycleway along the route of the disused railway next to the site, which will form an access link from Box Road to the River Cam.
Hayley Ody, regional sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “The development at Millfields will provide a range of stylish modern homes in a scenic and convenient location less than half a mile from Cam and Dursley railway station, and with easy access to Junction 13 of the M5 motorway for journeys to Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham.
“These properties will complement the 141 homes we are already building under our Bovis Homes brand at Millfields, which is part of a wider new neighbourhood taking shape on the edge of the village.
“The package of financial contributions and pedestrian improvement works being delivered under the terms of the planning agreement will also deliver tangible benefits for new residents moving to the development and the wider community.”
Both the Bovis Homes and Linden Homes developments are part of the wider Millfields development plan.
This project has outline planning permission for a total of 450 new homes as well as two business parks and a landscaped riverside park.
A selection of three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at the Linden Homes Millfields development, with prices starting from £375,000.
