ORGANSIERS behind a national charity to collect hundreds of sports kits for disadvantaged youngsters in the UK and Africa have said ‘thank you.’
Donors from around the region generously responded to Linden Homes’ appeal after The Housebuilder of the Year teamed up with charity Kits 4 Causes in its Kit Up, Kit Out summer campaign.
Around 50 shirts – and a number shorts - were donated by individuals and local sports teams across Linden Homes’ developments across Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire. In total 90 collection points were set up across the country.
The kits were collected by Kits 4 Causes organisers during a visit to the Linden Homes Midlands region and the company’s head office in Peterborough.
Regional sales manager Warren O’Callaghan handed over the shirts and shorts, which through the charity will be distributed to community groups in the UK, designed to help tackle social issues, such as reducing truancy through social inclusion.
Others will be sent to countries in Africa to help with projects which use sport to bring communities in conflict together.
Warren said: “The response to our calls for help from local people has been fantastic. The community really embraced the campaign and I’d like to thank them all for taking the time to dig out their old sports kits for such a worthwhile cause.
“As a leading national business with local developments across Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire we’re excited about helping such an inspirational organisation which shares the same philosophy of neighbourhood engagement that we are so passionate about ourselves.”
